I designed the Marketing Dakota traveling exhibit to be a blend of historic and current photos, historical documents, and exhibit content. This exhibit is meant to compliment the Drawn to the Land exhibit, designed by an Associate Curator.
The "Drawn to the Land" exhibit was designed by an Associate Curator. I managed the graphic design and exhibit production on this exhibit.
I designed “Life Underground: Hard Rock Mining in the Black Hills,” in a way that blended these design elements without overwhelming the visitor. This exhibit set the precedent and served as the template for the remaining exhibitions. Here the exhibit is shown on display at the Black Hills Mining Museum in Lead, South Dakota.
The "Living Traditions" exhibit was designed by an Associate Curator. I managed the graphic design and exhibit production on this exhibit. Here is a recent article from the Yankton Press & Dakotan showing the exhibit on display at the Bede Art Gallery at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.

Traveling Exhibits

In 2004, the SD State Historical Society revamped their traveling exhibits program. Over the course of 6 years the Museum staff would add a total of 10 exhibits to the program. As Curator of Exhibits, I was responsible for finding a format that would travel easily and inexpensively to both small and large venues throughout the state. I completed the graphic design on 4 of the 10 exhibits. I managed the graphic design and exhibit production on all ten exhibits. I currently oversee the booking and shipping of all ten exhibits. In 2015, the exhibits traveled to 25 venues and were viewed by over 47,500 people. This format has been copied and used for exhibits by other museums in the region. The format was recently adapted for the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Bridges of North Dakota exhibit. In 2009, the Museum received an American Association for State and Local History Leadership in History Award of Merit for the society’s Traveling Exhibits Program.
