Note snap fits, living hinges, and complicated distribution of thread pattern. By using a threaded stud "cutting tool" in CAD, and distributing the right copies to each vertex, boolean operations were used to create the proper thread profile when folded.

Roman Dodecahedron - Folding Assembly

The Roman Dodecahedron is a mysterious archeological object found in several European countries. Theories for its purpose include tool, toy, game, mysterious cult object, or even a test of skill for metalworkers.

Living hinges, snap fits, and threaded pegs allow this to be printed flat and then assembled without any glue. Many prototypes were needed to get all the elements just right. Available for download on Printables, many other hobbyists have successfully printed my design.
