AUROS | design for the third sector
Using empathic modeling and research, Auros is the pen for people with arthritic hands. The basic premise is that the pressure of the swollen joints of the fingers and wrists are replaced with the movement of the less commonly used shoulder and elbow.
The design of Auros is inspired by the relaxed grip of an arthritic hand and the soft grooves serves as an easy indicator for where all the fingers should go. Like a computer mouse, Auros has a clicker that allows the user to push the tip to the paper and off again. This freedom of control is very much like using a real pen.
