Magazine Cover design - Cover featured Detroit Lions' NDamukong Suh who was a high-riser in the annual list of Top 100 NFL Players. Object of portrait shoot was to get Suh in an intimidating position. Further exemplified by applying HDR contrasts.
Ryan Howard cover - Cover portrait shoot. Utilized HDR post-production techniques within PhotoShop to boost image impact.
125th Commemorative Issue Cover - Idea was to create a collage type cover profiling some of the most influential athletes in sports the past 125 years.
Super Bowl Guide Cover - Cover for the February 2012 mag. The theme of the magazine is to rank all of the previous 45 super bowls with in-depth analysis of each. Carrying that theme over to the cover to visually show the past and the present.
National Magazine Covers - One of my personal favorites. Theme was to shoot Ingram low to feel as if the viewer is being stepped on by Ingram in his run for the Heisman trophy.
National Magazine Covers - Asked 30 Duke students to show up at Cameron Indoor Stadium fully decked out in their "Cameron Crazy" attire. Shot Singler standing on a mini ladder to raise him close to camera.
Magazine Cover designs - Editorial team wanted a cover with numbers. Not just any numbers, but the SN Top 10 Greatest Records numbers. Used a combination of 3 typefaces and treated in a typography poster style. EIC later came in and requested that we add Frazier to the cover.
Magazine Cover designs - Top NFL Draft prospect photographed on location at a concert in which he plays guitar. Background photoshopped in to add movement and bring out his pink suit.
National Magazine Covers - Was definitely challenging getting all 3 professional athletes together. Noah was almost a no-show and we had the Bulls mascot on "stand-by" if he hadn't shown.
National Magazine Covers - Went with a "grunge" style high-contrasted background with this photo. Wanted to emphasize the serious expressions on both players faces as well as playing off the yellow and black colors of their jerseys.
Magazine Cover designs - A combination of 2 photos and photoshopped bracket on the basketball. The script font is my handwriting that we also used on the inside college hoops feature.
National Magazine Covers - Background built from a random shot inside Lambeau Field. Used a Slab font to accent Matthews' hard-edged physique.
National Magazine Cover - Made the street signs with InDesign and printed on plotter. Cut out and glued to foam core signs. Mailed to photographers that were shooting the 4 cover subjects and had athletes hold the signs according to their geographic location in relation to the Final Four tournament at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. Background produced with Illustrator and PhotoShop.
