Primate Enrichment Gate

For my senior industrial design thesis at Ohio State, I spent over 15 hours observing human-animal-habitat interactions at the American Primate Educational Sanctuary in Blacklick, Ohio. From these observations I outlined the daily workflow of the caretakers and identified and prioritized the challenges they face. My solution is a gate that helps keepers move the animals between enclosures and provides a puzzle-solving enrichment experience for the primates. This product is beneficial because it ensures that caretakers can do proper cleaning of the animals’ habitats more efficiently and without risking their safety.
