Evaluator Workspace, v1 Carousel component to navigate through the rubric aspects for grading.
Evaluator Workspace, v2 - convert the grading space to a 1-page format I went back to the drawing board and had feedback conversations with several members of the evaluation team to discuss possible solutions. After reviewing a few options, we agreed upon a single page design that showed all rubic aspects with grading options, comment space, and previous comments. This solution has proven to be what the evaluation users needed and wanted. Upon release of the redesign, the feedback was great. The evaluation team was so happy with the new UI and their workflow experience was improved greatly.

EMA Evaluator Workspace enhancement

When I created the original design of the evaluator’s workspace for grading a student’s task submission, I decided on using a carousel component to keep the space focused, concise, and clean. One rubric aspect at a time, showing the grading levels, input area for comments back to the students, and a view of previous evaluator comments. The design was well received by the evaluation team and implementation went forward. However, once the evaluators got working with this presentation of the workspace, they quickly found some usability issues, especially on the tasks that had a lot of aspects. Though a lengthy list of aspects was not common, they made for a very challenging experience when trying to get back to a specific aspect.
