"Sketchy" Digital Portraits

Over the past year I have discovered a new way of creating. I found myself a Photoshop brush that gives me a basic line, and the rest is history.

Well, not really, I'll actually expand a bit more on how I developed this style...

I'm a huge fan of films, I always have been. I fall in love with the characters, or the clothing, or the color palettes used, etc. and I usually can't get those things out of my mind...until I draw them. It's my way of being closer to the filmmakers who helped bring those things to life.

I start by watching a movie (usually I draw while I watch), then I choose a character for that movie, then I grab some movie stills of that character (different angles of the face, different outfits), I bring those photos into Photoshop and put them all on one PS document, then I open a new document and use the "2 Window" feature and get to work with the reference doc. open as a guide.

It just kind of stuck after doing a few of them.

Here are just a few of the characters
