Waste Management System

in 2012 I was involved in a university initiative whereby students of many disciplines collaborated. Within the group I was delegated the task of creating a concept waste management system for potential use within the university.

With the impending opening of the Manchester metropolitan business school my task was to develop a concept that complimented the buildings interior and exterior aesthetics. The main consideration was making the concept merge to the walls of the open spaces within the new building. The design features a back support bracket to hold the 3 individual parts together. It also gave the illusion the unit was wall mounted.

The concept explores the idea of cognitive design. The idea is that the circle cut into the right is for bottles and cans. The wide middle triangular cut is for general waste and the left for paper and cardboard.

The final solution is a modernistic interpretation of a waste management and recycling system.
