PEAR // People.EArth.Rescue - People, Earth, Rescue - the driving theme of this project.
This First-Aid capsule is deployed after Search and Rescue teams end a search during the evening, or are called off due to hazardous and uncharted terrain. Acting like a beacon in the air and on the ground, its purpose is to increase survival rates of lost victims.
The capsule contains food, water, a space blanket, 2-way radio, first-aid medicines and a list of instructions that help facilitate the person's rescue.
A built in GPS navigation system in the PEAR helps S&R base camp monitor the area 24hrs a day. If someone comes across the capsule and opens it, a signal is sent to rescue crews. Essentially a few of these are dropped in the wilderness based on a search radius of where the victim was last seen; it also can be tailored to particular persons who need special medications or equipment.
