Guts and glory! The body is made of laser-cut MDF with 1/4“ finger joints. The iPod dock uses an audio cassette/mp3 adapter to interface with the cassette player, and can be toggled between AM, FM, and iPod inputs. There is a single power cable coming out the back, and three simple controls: volume/on/off, radio tuning, and input selection. The wiring used only off-the-shelf components and required no soldering. Zoe's a genius with electronics and did all of the wiring whilst I made the shell.
iPod FM Graphic - The iPod FM is the child of a defunct Walkman, an iPod adapter, and some beastly speakers.

iPod FM

A collaboration with Zoe Blatter.

Setting out to make an AM/FM/Cassette player relevant again, we merged an old Walkman with an iPod dock. The iPod dock is set at an angle to accommodate the irregular size, shape, and dock connector placement of all iPods, old and new, such that it will frame any iPod equally well. It was shown in the Oregon Made for Interiors Exhibit at the Maude Kerns Art Center in May 2011.
