Spalted End Tables
End Tables Constructed From Spalted Maple and Steel Rod - These end tables are constructed from spalted maple, a wood which has been attacked by fungi which leaves it with intense figuring and grain patterns. The stark design of the table was chosen to emphasise the natural beauty of the wood. Hairpin steel legs were cut and bent from steel rod, welded to attachment plates and polished to a mirror shine. The table top was hand finished with tung oil to bring out the grain of the wood and to ensure protection.
