Influenced by the way in which contrasts define and shape the world around us, my product aims to banish ideas which suggests that things that are different, can not possibly work together. Through the combination of materials, surfaces and finishes the coffee table I have designed is visual evidence that diversity can in fact create a sense of harmony and balance between them. Although I have researched a variety of contradictions, for example, contrasts in nature and contrasts in design, my final product is a reflection of contrasts within people. This physiological element which allows users to understand and relate to the ideas behind my product provokes thought and
questions their own opinions.
