Disaster Relief - The objective of this assignment was to focus on disaster relief as a class. We were split into various groups (education, recreation, clothing, community, food, shelter, medical, transportation) for further design specification, my group was to focus on the recreation aspect of disaster relief.
Playground - We chose to design a modular play set for children that can be shipped easily and assembled on site if minimal effort. Some problems we faced were: - After a disaster the ground is not always safe to play on. - The play parts had to be specialized so that they can not be stolen - Had to follow federal safety guidelines. - Had to snap together and not come apart when played on
The Floor - The floor is made of 3 interchangeable size plates with rubber padding. They look together through the use of clips that can be place where they are needed.
Bench Construction - The benches are made to fit on a square of mat. The end caps not only lock the half tube design in place, but can lock together to make a longer sitting area.
Benches Exploded View
Slide - The floor panels can used to form a step system that the ladder can then snap into. The joints for benches are used to lock the slide in place.
See Saw - The see saw uses the bench end caps to function as a fulcrum point.
