Concept generation Form exploration through hand sketches to determine an appropriate visual language that reflects how cutlery is held in the hand. Thumb and finger placement dictate development of different shape options.
Concept Generation continued Further refinement of ideas moving away from literal towards a more abstract reflection of the hand's grasp of the eating utensil. Different grip styles considered as comfort and appropriate balance need to be cater for the various ways cutlery is held.
Grasp Cutlery - Final Design Renderings Final design combines a ramped surface for thumb placement with a rounded underside for remaining fingers to comfortable wrap around handle of utensils. Form evokes a quirky designer aesthetic with a polished finish to suit high end consumer markets. Product is constructed in two parts with concealed soldered join forming an enclosed handle body. Machine polished finish.
