“GARBAGE IS NOT GARBAGE, GARBAGE IS TO CONSTRUCT NEW THINGS” FRANK ALSEMA
The World population is 7.7 billion people. Each person products 1.2 kg garbage every day. It gives 9.12 billiards kilograms for a year.
Our idea is to use all the garbage of Trash Island to create research complex located on the ocean. The plan has three steps. First- collecting plastic to a floating gabion made of shipping containers. Each year 350 to 10 000 containers is dumped into the ocean. One container is able to contain 78 cubic meters of trash. Second step is using shipping containers to construct the facade of the building. Inside containers are located offices, sleeping areas for employees and labs. The form of the building is based on the fishing float. It contains gabion, which ensure appropriate displacement of the building and mass-loading chamber, which load dawn the builidng and ensure stability of the all construction.
