E. 1027

Studio: Project 1 (Spring 2013).
To start this project we choose topics that popular houses fell under. My group partner and I choose Community vs. Isolation for our topic. The house we choose, Eileen Gray's E. 1027 fell under Isolation. The first step was to do extensive research, learning as much as we could about the architect and their thought behind the building, the area in which it was built, how it came to be, the aspects that make it unique. We looked at plans, sections, and elevations to make an accurate scale model of the building and site in which it's located. The next phases was to look at the aspects of the building that draw attention to it and diagram them. The final phase of this project was to pick one of the most important elements of the house and show it in an analytical model.
