Paper Playground

Paper Playground aims to highlight the importance of free access to child-friendly outdoor public spaces and offline forms of self-expression in the context of growing mental and physical health issues related to the extensive use of technology. It proposes a visual charting of parks, playgrounds, gardens and other community spaces through in situ drawing and photography.
The research is expanded in the studio through exploring analog processes and techniques, such as papercutting, pop-up, monoprint, folding and experimental bookmaking.
The outcome of the project consists of exhibiting part of the research in series of works relevant for each technichal direction, as well as blending them all together in shadow theater installation designed to replicate the positive qualities of Berlin’s generous public spaces, in which people are invited to interact and play.

Project developed during FRESH A.I.R. class of 2024, supported by Urban Nation Berlin
