Maria Bonita

Is a project designed in collaboration with Alejandra Pimentel, Irene Rojas, Alejandra Rodriguez, Estefania Robles, Cecilia Ezquerro and Francisco Torres. Which purpose is to reconnect ancient traditions and hand crafted artisans with modern materials and technologies. Maria Bonita was inspired by popular knitted rattan baskets found in most markets, reflecting the heritage of a tradition that is unique to Mexico.
Subsequent to Maria Bonita’s achievement, we made an alliance with Ediciones Jalapa in Mexico City to produce a limited quantity with higher standard qualities.

To achieve this whole process we attended with the artisan Fausto Ramírez from the town of Tequisquiapan in the state of Queretaro, whose talent, imagination and disposal made Maria Bonita possible.

MARIA BONITA materials:
Nogal walnut or pinewood, knitted rattan.
