Brixton - Food Network

Term 1, Housing & Urbanism MA
London, Fall 2013 (group project)

This project explored the site’s food productive system as a means of growth and community binding. Particularly in the case of neighborhoods like Brixton, which appear on London’s poor side of the scale.

Located in south London, Brixton is one of the city’s most culturally mixed areas. This results in a variety of formal and informal markets within its core. Three main market modes are present: mega chains, outdoor tents and covered markets.

Additionally the area’s complex underground and over-ground rail system, makes it a major transport junction. This allows for a better and wider distribution and reception of goods.
