UBC Farm Centre

Year 4, ENDS 401 (Studio)
Vancouver, Fall 2012

The UBC Farm is today an active institution in the university, but which has experienced several ups and downs. Currently needing some renewal. Located south-east of main campus, it is enclosed between academics and community.

One of the main problems is the location and orientation of current infrastructure.

The general layout and design of the farm centre was inspired by a set of experimental diagrams that played with the shape of a semi-circle and rectilinear spaces. My intention was to make a receptive building, were people would feel welcomed the moment they entered the farm. Becoming this way, a place where three different realms unite: academics, farming and the community. Also aided by a renovation of its general ground layout. This includes a clear main access and throughways.
