Sports Coupe Concept - A concept for a new british kit car company based on a BMW Z3 platform. Inspired by (and borrowed heavily from) classic 50's and 60's front engine sports coupes such as the light weight E-Type, Aston Martin DB4 Zagato and DP214.

  • I love it! Really like your concept Mark. I'm a big fan of DB4 Zagato.

  • So this is the base model, the Z3.

  • Hello fellas thanks for the feedback, really appreciated. Its not very original but it is feasable and I am very happy with the proportion and stance.

  • Yes. We were approched by a local individual looking to start up Kit Car company who asked us to help develop a new design from scratch. At first we were very excited about the prospect but eventually we declined the project because we felt it wasn't feasble on the budget avalible. I created this rendering to illustrate how using major parts from a donor car did not have to comprimise the design statment.

  • The Z3 makes sence because of its classic proportions, long bonnet (hood), second hand avalibilty, performance and quality. Again not very original the WIESMANN Roadster MF3 has the same idea as does the Duesen Bayern Mystar but niether are very pretty IMHO.

  • Too bad! It can help some folks who just tired looking at their Z3 though LOL. I like the Z3 Coupe too! It's weird but somehow it's kinda look like Jensen Intercepter without the flashy 70's image. Love the new Z4 too but the SLK like top is weird. Wiesmann is still interesting though especially the coupe one. How about Fisker?

  • Well, look at me a graphic designer talkin' about car design. Once I dreamt to become a car designer though...Love your concept Mark! Do you have the rendering in other angle? Should look lovely.

  • That is clean, sexy lines Mark

  • Thanks again for the feedback, really is appreciated.

  • No other angles rendered up yet, although I am doing some doodles when I get 5 mins spare.

  • Hello Graeme, Thanks for the feedback. I was working to the clients brief and tbh there wasn't a great deal of room for creativity. Although that said not a lot has changed, it's pretty much a standard Camaro (set for launch in 09) with a front splitter, side skirts spoiler, headlight covers, a satin paint finish and a graphic stripe.

  • .....Oh and Zr1 wheels.

  • This is some cool work , the subtle changes make such significance, the detail grabs out at you compared to the standard cars.. love the smoked grill, makes such a impact. Nice work

  • I see a bit of 240Z in it, probably because it was influenced by those cars too. Also the BRE stripes nod towards Datsun.

  • Hello Robert, Thanks for the comment. No actually we did the work freelance for a friend (Steve Everitt) who usually works with Hennessey but didn't have the time to do the Camero illustartions. The first we knew about the design being taken through to production was when we saw the pics on the internet.

  • WOW!! Fantastic work, it inspires me!!!!!

  • awesome work man! Just awesome...

  • fantastic! Great, amazed :)

  • hot work as usual Mark!..stunning line quality!

  • Hello Nick, Thanks for the kind comments. Yes this is really more an illustration than a design rendering. It was created to go out with a press release. The brief was to create something as resolved and believable as possible to help get press coverage, especially on the internet, so I took more time than usual on creating the image.

  • Great rendering. I like the blue hockey stripe down the side and how clean the design is. I am building a 69 camaro and I am using a similar paint scheme. I am also going to chop the top, pinch the front end and tuck the bumpers to give a more aggressive look like the modern camaro. As always, very beautiful work.

  • I love your work! Bikes or cars, you've got great skills... You are such an inspiration! Thanks

  • hey Mark, awesome strokes man! although i read the description but just to make it clear in my head - is this a overlay sketch?

  • Hello Abhishek, Yes this is an overlay sketch one of a few.

  • Cheers Mike, Not sure how long it'll be before I can post that stuff. It'd be nice to show the boys and girls here on Coroflot but I'm not sure the punter would be pleased!!!

  • mark, it appears that you have the reflection of the red rendering in this image...but it gave me an idea... don't take it personal. i'm just glad i found a humanistic side to your work!

  • thanks fellas

  • Very Nice Work!

  • In fairness I think I also prefer the sketches. Bit blown away that someone would have it on an 'inspiration board'! It is just a ruded up Camaro one of many!

  • fabulous render & even better proportions !!!

  • Thanks very much although as I say the proportions belong very much to Malcolm Sayer and his contemporaries.
