Reflection Earth and Straw - installation

Installation of hand built square of earth, positioned on the interior of the gallery, with second square of straw and adobe on exterior of gallery. The relationship of the two elements comprises the piece through the reflections, the interaction of the reflections and absolute object, and changes of light throughout a day. Changes in each major element also followed through in sync with the nature of each element: dried adobe mud cracked and split as it dried on the smooth gallery concrete floor, and the straw/adobe mud mix outside, eventually sprouted and grew. The expression of passing time, growth, decay, reflection, relationship and passive imagery becomes powerful in this piece.
