FESTO Winner

he Hydrator Tool kit was the overall winner of the FESTO Biomimicry Design Challenge.
This design uses a 2mx1.5m sheet of FESTO’s biomimetic material. Using corner clamps inspired by the venus flytrap and a Cheetahs’s paw, each clamp was designed to make use of 3D printing, while clamping onto the material without any need for modification. The design funnels water into a water tank via a gutter system.
The Hydrator toolkit won due to its inherent simplicity, ability to protect itself in windy conditions, and its implementation strategy through education projects in rural communities.
