Mel Springer

A desk made for His Girl Friday. Designed by John Lee Beatty.
This desk played in the vom entrance. The character Walter Burns hides in the roll top. There was not enough room in the desk to close the top with the actor in it so I devised a pneumatic scissor lift that lowered the inside of the desk creating a spot for the actor to sit upright inside the desk. The action was controlled by the actor.
