The saucer section of the Enterprise was produced using a CNC milling machine.
The engines of the model were also milled.
The body of the ship model was produced using a fused-deposition modeller (FDM).
The base was laser cut in sections. This orange acrylic was originally intended as a test run, but the machine subsequently broke down.
I added filler to the orange base, then painted the whole thing white to match the rest of the model.
The parts were painted individually before assembly.
Two pins in the stand hold the model on the base. The backwards-facing angle of the nails stops the model from falling off.
The pins slot into these holes, allowing the model to be disassembled.
The model can be fully disassembled and stored.
This small-scale version of the model was produced entirely using the FDM machine.
