The design for this system was given a gadget-like appearance as opposed to most competitive energy monitors using a plain white “box” aesthetic; hence, appearing dated and very “plastic”.

Developed jointly between TXU Energy and The Energy Detective (TED), the TED-5000 is a power monitor that is a simple and accurate home energy monitoring system. It provides the user with real time Kwh and price usage as electric devices are turned off/on within. The system also provides real time power bill amounts and can be programmed to warn the user when nearing a set monthly cap (ex. $250/month).?
