Led and managed large-scale user research efforts on four new product initiatives leading to a higher quality User Experience. Planned and completed a full range of user research methods, from early discovery research to usability testing. Established Field Research vision and introduced new task analysis and research methodology to PeopleSoft product development organizations. Led and mentored a team of user researchers to execute field research effort. Led and facilitated participatory task analysis sessions at 12 customer sites with a total of 90 participants. Delivered comprehensive field research results. Results included personas, detailed business process flows, user task flows, prioritized user issues, product functionality gaps, user artifacts, competitive information and design feedback. Here's a picture taken of participants during one of the Task Analysis sessions I facilitated for the Travel and Expense Management application.
Co-wrote paper "The stakeholder forest: designing an expenses application for the enterprise" for the ACM CHI Computer Human Interaction conference. The Abstract: "This paper discusses the redesign of PeopleSoft's Enterprise Expenses product from a product that was notorious for it's complexity into a product that was both usable and one of PeopleSoft's best selling products. The process used was a combination of best practices from user-centered design, business and marketing to deliver a usable application on a pure-html "no-code on the client" platform. The design effort was also a collaboration of design, usability engineers, business strategy, functional analysts and developers and customers. The process needed to track the competing interests of various stakeholders: clients, their end users, their business processes, our technical requirements, limited resources and internal stakeholders. A poorly working metaphor was redefined into a concept that worked better with users."
Led user research effort on the Travel and Expenses Financial Solutions application. Conducted extensive Field Research with 37 participants at 5 companies. Led and mentored a team of user researchers. 8 user roles were researched. One-on-one contextual interviews were conducted with a team of user researchers. Results of the research included personas, detailed business process flows, user task flows, prioritized user issues, product functionality gaps, user artifacts, competitive information and design feedback. Here's a sample Persona defined for an "Occasional Travel Expense Reporter", with the complete Persona displayed. I also facilitated collaborative group task analysis sessions with 28 participants at five companies.

Here's another example of some of the results of an extensive user research effort I planned and conducted for the Asset Lifecycle Management product. This image shows the task-flow for Asset Management.
I planned and conducted a benchmark usability test for the PeopleSoft Travel and Expenses product. The research sessions lasted approximately 2 hours. A total of 11 users participated in this test. Here's a sample page from the usability test results report I wrote. This page shows some of the metrics reported. Usability issues identified and recommendations I made helped improve the user experience of the product.

Conducted User Experience sessions with customers at User Conferences. Here's a slide from a presentation I gave to 20 Planning and Budgeting customers. I collaborated with Product Management to plan and execute the session. The purpose of the UX Roundtable session was to engage customers and inform them of the UX best practice work completed throughout the design and development process. The roundtable informed the customers of planned improvements and inspired them to participate in future customer feedback activities.
