Led user experience design effort on world-wide SAP UI Standard for the next generation technology platform. Defined UI concepts and delivered detailed design specifications for a new contextual information panel. Here are paper prototypes I created and used during the extensive field research I conducted with SAP customers. I collaborated with a SAP UX User Researcher to define a research plan, recruit customers and conduct research. We conducted extensive field research on multiple and large screen monitor usage. We also gathered feedback and conducted a cognitive walkthrough of a design I was defining for the next generation of SAP UI Standards. We interviewed 16 participants at 13 high profile companies. The research data directly informed my SideCar Contextual panel User Interface design standard.
Here's a sample of data collected from users during the SideCar field research effort. Users provided information on what would be most useful to include in the SideCar contextual panel design. Participants provided their ideas and sketched directly on the paper prototype. Each individual session lasted two to three hours. The interview took place in the context of the user's work setting.
Here's a picture of one of the participants of the field research effort. We learned about users in the context of their environment. We gathered information on the usage of large screens and multiple monitors, users' concerns, priorities and needs. We conducted a cognitive walkthrough of my wireframe designs. Feedback on perceived usefulness, expectations, behavioral preferences and desired content was provided.
Here's a wireframe design concept I created of the SideCar contextual panel.
Here's another wireframe design concept I created for the SideCar contextual panel in an alternative position.
Here's another wireframe design concept I created for the SideCar contextual panel. This example includes sample business content and is displayed in an alternative position. These design concepts were presented to customers in the field research effort. Feedback collected from customers was incorporated into the design specification and product definition.
