Delivered first Analytics Pattern User Experience Whitepaper. Defined a strategic vision for SAP Analytics User Experience. Researched and conducted an extensive review of the analytics competitive market and SAP Business Intelligence (BI) products. The results consolidated, synthesized and centralized analytics requirements to scope the UI design effort. Analytic UI patterns were defined and described. This image illustrates the UX concept of an Analytics Hub. The Analytics Hub centralized analytical content, notifications and "intelligent" suggestions. The Hub provided direct access to dashboards and reports, and served as a launching point for further analyses. Alerts and status indicators drew attention to data and metrics that required attention or response. A multi-faceted hierarchical navigation mechanism and a simple search UI provided access to reports and dashboards.
I collaborated on this strategic design project with another Senior Designer at SAP. After conducting extensive analysis of SAP BI products, business requirements documents, industry analyst reports, competitive products and based on previous UX experience, we defined the Analytics UI framework. The framework described the key UI patterns, components and platforms needed to address all business requirements and user roles. The framework included the Analytics Hub, the Operational transactional interface, an Administrative Tools UI, mobile, and third party applications. The overall concept is illustrated with a diagram showing the overall model, overlapping areas and common features.
This diagram represented our proposal for the analytics user experience strategic vision. Hundreds of analytics requirements were consolidated and described with this visual. Overlapping feature areas and components are displayed. Elements of User Experience Best Practice are also described and assumed to be applied across the framework.
This diagram presented a high level view of the analytics end-user task flow. In the end, the flow is quite simple, yet pervasive and relevant.
This diagram represents a high level view of the supported enterprise business process. Analytical business processes and end-user tasks integrate into every business process step. Since the SAP analytics products relied on the effective integration into customers' business processes, this diagram intended to help the team have a shared understanding to help shape the solution.
This UI demonstrates the concept of providing notifications to end-users, either to a centralized inbox or in context of a report that the user is viewing. High priority notifications would "alert" users that immediate attention is needed.
This UI illustrates the concept of a Briefing Book, providing a mechanism for reports intended for managers and executives.
UX Design principles were defined to create a high quality User Experience. The intention of the Design principles were to provide the design team a reference point to guide design decisions.

Delivered first Analytics Pattern User Experience Whitepaper. Defined a strategic vision for SAP Analytics User Experience. Researched and conducted an extensive review of the analytics market, reviewed industry analyst papers and competitive products. Evaluated all SAP BI (Business Intelligence) products and next generation requirements documents. The results of the effort informed the next generation Analytics products. The paper delineated the high level business process that shapes the analytics space, the primary user roles and a generalized user task flow. The paper included relevant market trends and competitive information that SAP needed to address to remain ahead of the competition. The results consolidated, synthesized, and centralized analytics requirements to help scope the UI design effort. Analytic UI patterns were identified and demonstrated the UX vision for the analytics user experience.
