Overview of Makerspace gallery.
Early prototype of Sail Race exhibit that was evaluated with visitors.
As part of the design, I created a new entry lobby for a ticketed young learners space called the Discovery Room. It gave a more formal entry to the space as well as provided a viewing window with a bench to see into the Maker Garage while waiting for the next session to begin.

Makerspace Gallery

Description:
Makerspace allows visitors to learn about the principles behind invention through playing, building, adapting, modifying and working together.
Role and Challenges:
I worked with the content/exhibits team to develop exhibits and floorplans. I also made initial concepts all the way through final build drawings and oversaw construction and install of exhibitry.
One of the challenges was it needed to be a multi-use space with a classroom, exhibits, and a space for community partners. A solution for this was to create an open, inviting classroom space and a Maker Garage for the community partners as a nod to the original Makers of the 1970’s that started in their garage.
