Fishtank Identity - This was an identity designed for the imaginary organization Fishtank, which specializes on terraformation (making other planets habitable for humans). Because I was able to work with a company of my own invention, I had the freedom to design a new identity system rather than conform to a pre-established identity. This system includes the logo design and type treatment, a general color scheme, business card, letterhead, envelope, and promotional postcards.
String Records of Ancient Peru - This was a poster made to announce a lecture at Brown University on the String Records of Ancient Peru. I had noticed a tendency in my design process that relied heavily on designing on the computer, so I used this as an opportunity to design with my hands and with a camera rather than digitally, and as a result this piece has very minimal computer-created imagery or manipulation. Instead, it was made with lots of dental floss.
Modular World - I had recently spent a lot of time drawing different Lego figures, with no purpose other than for the sheer enjoyment of drawing childhood toys. After I had a set of these figures drawn, I didn't know what to do with them. I tried to make them into icons, but it didn't work out very well. So I used them as inspiration for a poster design. This poster is part of an ongoing series.
New York Times Magazine Spreads - These spreads were designed for a project focusing on the analysis of an established magazine grid system and using it to design new layouts that maintained the aesthetic and character of that of the magazine, while being expressive and original. These variations are a study of typographic and compositional hierarchy.
Ugly Duckling - My first attempt at designing a typeface. Inspiration for this serif typeface came from Prensa, Charter, and Coranto (of i.d. magazine notoriety)
