In the Fall of 2010, A classmate and I spent 2 months observing the Mission District in San Francisco. Part of that time was spent specifically analyzing the culture, restaurants, shops, and people on 24th St(also known as "El Corazon") Our focus was on the sounds of the Mission. Together, we built a device using Arduino and MaxMSP that acted like a "Sonic Periscope" which would highlight the multitude of ambient sound from specific popular locations on 24th St.
