Sylki Chair by POD Design

The Sylki Chair is a unique chair made from a single sheet of 20 gauge steel that is cut and welded together. It weighs no more than a bottle of wine, yet it can support over 250 lbs of weight. I was the technical designer for this chair and worked out issues such as structural support and load bearing capabilities as well as material choice and ergonomics. I met with custom metal worker Jeff Swift and together we worked out all of the technicalities that allowed this chair to go from a one-of-a-kind paper model to a fully functional piece of furniture.
