I began by peeling a whole bag of potatoes with a variety of existing peelers, recording data on comfort, grip, peeling effectiveness, and aesthetic appeal. I used this data to inform my design and began sketching forms.
Next, I began modeling prototypes in RennShape. Three models were made before determining the final form.

Potato Peeler

I was given the prompt to design a potato peeler that in some way improved upon peelers already on the market. After conducting first-hand research by testing a number of peelers on potatos, I aimed to design a peeler that could be held two ways, to give the user a choice in how to hold it. The final design allows the user to put their thumb on either the top of the peeler, or on either side. I also wanted to create a sleek and attractive form that is comfortable to hold.
