The D1200R arose as a development proposal based on a patent from Juan Elizalde of the Arco Design and Projects Company. The prototype has been conceived on the base of the BMW R1200R and by taking advantage of the reliability, robustness and charisma of the boxer engine. Although the initial considerations were to adapt the suspension system of the original motorcycle, however, in the end the chassis were designed along with a new body work obtaining a more homogenous and attractive result.
