University Project - Child Care Center
The response to creating a child-care centre considers the light, colour, threshold and children’s propensity to pretend and role-play. I based my design on a ‘wave’ theme as the site is close to St Kilda beach.
I have given the space differing ceiling heights and this gives each part of the building ample natural light. Every homeroom has access to an outdoor garden, which are nature-based play areas that provide plenty of natural light. It is a unique learning environment. Abstract ‘wave’ forms were cut out of 350mm walls, in order to turn them into interactive objects for the children to sit, lie and play.
