NEW ERA CAP ZOMBIE DOGEAR

One of the most intricate, complex, and expensive caps (for the time) I’ve ever done. As silly as it might sound, the Zombie Dogear cap was innovative for bringing together a non-licensed concept for a licensed based company with regular and reverse cross panel appliqués, intricate standard and metallic embroidery, sublimation, removable and re-attachable pieces, variants on look while still maintaining the story, and just plain design fun on a large multi-layered silhouette.
Initially conceptualized as an homage to Frankenstein, but limited by cost, the finished sample waited until 5 years later when manufacturing capabilities yielded more acceptable pricing, resulting in a store exclusive that played on classic Zombie imagery.
From the wearer’s brains exposed with ear flaps up or down, the neck muscle tissue on the rear, or the removable ear appliqués that exposes the illustrated flesh on the underside, the project was a perfect example of #havefundesigning
