MATTEL Space 1999 "EAGLE ONE" Play-Set Re-design Version 1.0
A side project of mine is to restore, rebuild, and redesign vintage toys. One of my favourite spaceships of all time is the 1976 MATTEL EAGLE ONE PLAYSET. The original toy was pretty great but I always thought it could be better. I started modifying the existing body, then I built all-new accessories and components which were then molded an cast. Eventually I had a complete resin conversion kit I used to restore and rebuild a number of the toys.
The spaceship in these pictures is from a toy I rebuilt in 2009. The idea was always to enhance the play features and create a bit more of a "screen accurate" look while keeping everything true to the flavour of the original.
