fictional conference brochure : videogame expo - this project was an open-ended conference brochure design. the project involved researching potential conference topics, which led me to inventing a conference on the blurring line between reality and videogame worlds. the guest speakers were chosen and researched by me, and the entire brochure was designed to introduce guests to the idea and allow them to purchase tickets with the attached order form.

u-scan design proposal - this project involved researching the "u-scan" self-checkout machine available at many grocery stores or home improvement retailers. the research phase included interviewing users, observation of usage methods in-store, and using the machine to understand its design mechanics. through the design process two designers and i came up with this revised version, featuring integrated payment systems, cycling bagging area, and intuitive positioning of the hardware items.

sumo ruffians board game - this project required the design and construction of a board game as a way to experience the design process. our game, sumo ruffians, was inspired by the duels of old westerns, coupled with the almost comical struggle between sumo wrestlers in the heat of a match. the game is meant for two or more teams of players exchanging madlib style insults, with the most humorous insults being judged by a neutral third player. the game was warmly received in class, and spawned several unforgettable taunts.

small scale composting for seattleites research paper - this is the research paper linked to the composting presentation adjacent in this file. a culminating project for a design writing & presentation course. the final project was based on seattle waste management, with varying project topics for each students. my project focused on bringing composting methods used at cedar grove composting to consumer backyards. we toured the cedar grove facility we toured to gain a better understanding of the process.
