Many quick foam and clay models where created to consider alternate actuator configurations for the bipolar device. Two of the concepts were selected for prototyping and more in-depth evaluation...
The dissector/retractor and the bipolar prototypes where shown to 20 preceptors. A protocol was used to gather feedback and narrow the design team's focus. This research allowed the design team to select a final design direction.
