Chosen Graphic - The head shell was created in Unigraphics. The graphic was then finished in Adobe Illustrator. I believe background brings back in the concept of rings of sound as there are rings of grey and white.
Original Concept with Customer Profile - The Ortofon head shell was my second idea. I chose to take this forward as this was the idea I had the most concepts for. I was intrigued by the idea of having music coming from the needle though later decided this was too obvious of a representation.
Initial Concepts for Graphic - The main idea regarding this page of development was having a base for the head shell to sit on with musical notes coming of the points of the base.
Further Development of Initial Concepts - Different positions were tried for the base of the head shell.
Further Development of Initial Concepts - The base was altered to look like the representation of music in music software. I really like the concept in the top left corner of wires wrapped around the base but felt this would take away from the head shell.
Drawing Sound Concepts - The use of sound waves was considered and the creation of sound coming from the needle.
Sound Wave Concepts - Sound wave concepts were further looked into. The final idea was chosen as the waves of music leaving the head shell as I felt this represented the product's use best and would appeal to the customers most.
Graphic Idea 2 - This idea gave the idea of the head shell being inside a speaker with the blue ring. It was not chosen as the final graphic as I felt it didn't represent the customer profile as effectively as the chosen graphic.
Graphic Idea 2 - This graphic idea had a darker background to the chosen graphic. This was not chosen as the graphic as it was felt the chosen graphic represented the sound wave effect better.
