Large Hadron Collider, CERN - The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) is in the final stages of commissioning the Large Hadron Collider (LCH), the largest particle collider in the world. The LCH has been constructed in a 27km tunnel, 100m underground straddling the borders of France and Switzerland. Protons will be collided at 40 million times a second, recreating the conditions a fraction of a billionth of a second after the Big Bang.
