H_ICE’s goal was to requalify the band which connects downtown city center to the sea by giving a more uniform and meaningful landscape to those arriving in Helsinki from the sea, making it the new “door” of the city. The underlying theme of the project is the ancient coastline, which metaphorically gives back to the city’s inhabitants an historical element of their territory and becomes the backbone on which the different architectonic solutions are set.
