Matani Pachedi: a combination of Block print and hand painting, Ahmedabad, India. - Matani Pachedi, a combination of Block printing and hand painting is a traditional craft of Ahmedabad. It was used as the inspiration to design an Indian traditional garment for a middle aged (age 35-45 yrs) plump Indian Woman. A survey for average sizes in the middle age group was carried out. Designs were conceptualized in an effort to create a slimming effect as most women were towards a heavier build.

Tie: Client Project for BRC, FICCI and the craftspeople of Kutch. January, 2002.
We worked with the craftspeople of Kutch, so as to help diversify their product range. A range of ties was designed for this project, where the style was varied from a very conventional tiny patterned one to a more experimental. The same stitch technique is used in different ways.
Paradigm Shift: Creative Patternmaking. Designed in January, 2000
The garment works at deconstruction to form construction. The concept being of insertion of extra fabric to change silhouette. The inserted fabric is further kept versatile (i.e. can be Velcro-ed together or left open) to be worn in two lengths.
