Fragrant Paper - 'Khus' or Vetiver is a wild grass. In India the roots of this grass are made into blinds for summer as their bunching holds water well and the passing air spreads a soft fragrance which is emitted when the roots are wet.
The fragrance is unique to the Vetiver grass root and it is believed to be the result of the minerals that the root absorbs.
The intention behind this project was to take design in nature as a role model and create in accordance.
I used the root and explored paper making with it, of different weights and inserting flat objects within (for screens or lamps). The papers had a subtle scent of Vetiver.
