This picture is the final assembly and exploded view of our design. The gear ratios and the materials involved in this fishing reel are much improved over the existing design. The mathematical models showed that it would endure for a long time.

ME 325 Fishing Reel
This project was done for ME 325. It was something I did with Joey Castaneda, Devin DeWeerd, Szuyin Leow, and Luke Woodruff. I think this project demonstrates my essence of joy. I did all the gear spring and shaft analysis, as well as the 3D modeling. I really enjoy fishing and wanted to share that with other people. We took an existing fishing reel and redesigned it so that it was more reliable and significantly cheaper. The intention was to create something that would allow any casual fishermen to go out and enjoy themselves.
