Convertible Boat Cabin

This project was a collaboration between a Canadian engineering company and an American boat builder. The Canadian effort was to design and build a "convertible" cabin that offered unsurpassed flexibility to the cabin area while coming in under strict weight restrictions. My role was to design the cabin structure, roof and radar/equipment structure. A large amount of collaboration with other designers was necessary on the project to validate design elements and integrate the various project modules.
As we were 4000 km away from the boat hull that was concurrently being built in Louisiana there was an enormous requirement to communicate on a daily basis to keep all contributors abreast of all the latest developments.
The cabin was delivered in a timely manner and dropped into the hull where it was welded into place.
Although many of the design objectives were met with the cabin, hull and boat performance the contract was awarded another boat builder.
