UNIMOG Seating

The operator of an outdoor adventure company needed to replace their ever-failing ATV shuttles so they acquired a MB Unimog and set forth to overhaul their newly bought people mover by adding seating for 16 people and a roll cage for protection.

As robust and capable a beast that the Unimog is it just doesn't supply a very comfortable ride to the occupants so it was decided to install seating that would add some comfort during the bumpy ride to their destination.

I was commissioned to conceptualize a feasible solution while collaborating with the team making the structural upgrades.

We played with the idea of using fixed seating versus a simple shock mitigating seat. In the end we went with a simple shock mitigating unit with a simple spring rate adjustment and very low maintenance requirements.

I supplied full design and delivery of 'turn-key' seating that were bolted to the rear deck.
