Materials and Processes Study - Wood: Log Sawing
The goal for this exercise was to accurately simulate realistic grain patterns and wood cuts in digital models using advanced custom textures and lighting.
I put particular emphasis on the quality of my wood texture, such as retouching the seasonal coloring to be a facsimile of red oak, proper orientation of grain, and natural defects like knots and scratches.
The knowledge I have gained from this exercise will be immediately applicable to all of my future projects, particularly those with a sustainable or renewable outlook.
