First brief of my final year, I have to design products for a store called Magma based in Manchester and London. I chose the theme of maps and studied the maps of Manchester from blue prints right through to traditional maps from 1933.
My design was an urban grid of Manchester, the design was cut up into three sections and applied to bangles, fashionable jewerlly. The concept was that each of the bangles worn separately are mini maps of a popular part of Manchester, but worn all together create the whole urban grid of Manchester itself.
I designs different jewerlly such as pendants and view finder rings for the range too, also a jewerlly box and packaging.
More promotional products for the range, also to use the design on further products to show how it can be altered or easily used for a different location other than Manchester.
The vests were more feminine and fit with the jewerlly better than t-shirts, so I created various designs on the vests and tote bags to show the design in various ways using text and the "Picker Point" followed by the key location within Manchester.
I also designed an App for the product range but was based World Wide, so people from all around the world can get involved and we can see how many people travel to Magma and purchase the range. This is also for future product experimentation of different places such as Liverpool, London, Rome, New York etc.
The app lets you take an image of where you are in the world and upload after editing and show on a world map exactly where you are and what you sharing with us.
